Topic:
How does Frank's situation reflect his character and his ability to take control of his family?
Frank is the realist of the family. He is the one to speak the most truth of them all. Frank has a sarcastic and dark sense of humor always poking fun at the families position in life. He is the eldest of the children and has been forced to grow up fast because his parents are useless and selfish people.it seems to me that he is the way he is because of his family and the things he has been through. As I have read the book it makes me appreciate the things I have a caring family, a nice house, and food it seems so insignificant to me but i can not imagine living with out those things, and Frank McCourt had to.

Post #6 The Major Theme:Family and Innocence
I think that one of the main themes of the book is family. One of the reasons I think this is because Holden always looks back on his dead brother Ali. Also that Holden thinks about his sister Phoebe and has high hopes for her to go far. The other main theme of the book is innocence. A reason I think this is because Holden (when thinking of The Catcher In the Rye poem) thinks of himself ad a person who guards children from the hostility of the world.

Post #5 Holden's Independence:Beneficial or Harmful
I think his independence can be looked at in the two lights equally. It is beneficial in the fact that he can be self-sufficient. Also that he can take care of himself when his parents or guardians are there to protect him. His independence can also be taken as harmful because he does not have anyone to keep him safe or keep him in check. Also when he needs money (like in the end of the book) he has no one to go to.

Holden Caulfield:Changes, For The Better or For The Worse Post #4
I think that Holden may change. He may change eventually change depending on the events that unfurl through the book. I think that he might change for the better because it seems like he is already as bad as he can get. Also we have been studying transformation of a hero so I think he may change for the better.

Significance of Spring:Time of a New Melinda Post #3
Spring is a time of new for Melinda this means trying, in school, in her habits and socially. Examples of then she is starting over with her habits and social life is when she is sitting next to Ivy who talks friendly to Melinda and she is not pushing away like people seam to do around Melinda, also in Melinda's habits where she begins to bite her lip and then realizes what she is doing and stops herself by having a hard candy. Spring is Melinda's light after the dark winter she realizes that school is almost over and she learns to cope with being around people. Spring is the time where a new Melinda begins to poke through the snow left by the harsh winter quarter.

Post #2 Guy Montag And Luke Skywalker
I believe that Guy Montag and Luke Skywalker are the most simular from "Star Wars: Episode IV" and the summer reading book "Feinheit 451". This is because how the stories are written, in "Star Wars" Luke is an emerging hero trying to find his path to become a Jedi knight and in "Feinheit 451" Guy Montag is a fire fighter who is just beginning to find the truth about his job and trying to start a "revolution". That is why I think they are the closest characters from the movie and the summer reading.

Post #1 My Favorite Children's Book
As a child I would have to say my favorite book was "House on Pooh Corner". I think this because i have very fond memories of my mom or my grandma reading it to me before bed. Me ask a little kid curled up in bed listening to the happy stories of Pooh and his friends. That's why my favorite childhood book is "House on Pooh Corner".
